Morrison & Foerster Llp

Morrison & Foerster LLP has broad capabilities across the entire array of government contract and public procurement work, but is perhaps best known for its bid protest practice. The team balances a busy contentious and transactional workload with a significant proportion of its mandates involving classified matters and sensitive FCA litigation, contract claims against the government in forums such as the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals , and M& A involving government contractors. The team is one of the first ports of call for emerging Sillicon Valley tech companies that rely on government contracts and grant funding, thanks to the firm’s strong presence in San Francisco and its wide-ranging expertise in IP protection and cybersecurity issues. Based in Washington DC, the department is jointly led by Alex Ward, Tina Reynolds and Kevin Mullen, the latter of whom specializes in bid protest litigation. Also recommended are David Churchill, government contracting M& A specialist Damien Specht and James Tucker, who focuses on bid protests.

LLMBound2L wrote:Ok so I chose a law school that was not at the top of my law school list, but one that offered me a full-ride . I have regretted it ever since, but unfortunately, it is too late to change now . I most likely have a job offer for IP at a big law firm when I graduate. However, I am more interested in government contracts, and on top of that, I would really like to get a degree from a better school than the one I chose . I am not located in Washington DC where most of the government contracts biglaw firms reside . My end goal is to do government contracts in-house for a company like Lockheed, Boeing, etc. Should I accept the big-law offer in IP, keep my debts down, and try to transfer eventually as a lateral either to a big-law govt contracts firm or in-house, or should I go to Washington DC to get my LLM in government contracts procurement .What should i be thinking about when I make this decision? I don’t know anything about the Government Contracts law industry, and my school knows nothing as well I don’t want to add to my debt . . . however, IP is not very fun. I could suffer through it for a few years if necessary to get to a better end goal !
