How Do I Get A Cage Code Samgov
To get your CAGE code, register at SAM.gov. This registration does not require you to have a CAGE code, only a DUNS number. After your System for Award Management registration completes, the SAM will transfer your entity information to the DLA. The DLA then assigns a CAGE code to your organization. No further actions from your side are needed after that. Obtaining a CAGE code is free of charge, and is fairly easy to do.
Important: the mere fact that your business has been assigned a CAGE code does not guarantee you any GSA contracting awards or further sales to the government. Having a CAGE code is like having a key, but you still need to find a door and open it.

Request A Cage Code Through The Defense Logistics Agency
You are now ready to complete the online forms on the DLA website. Once it is confirmed your business has no duplicate registrations, the information will be process within 10 business days. You will then be contacted by telephone or email for additional verification or to request additional documentation needed for processing, and a response is required from you within five days. Once this verification process is completed, DLA will submit the processed record to SAM to notify your entity if it is now active and eligible for contracts and/or grants.

Create An Individual User Account Through System For Award Management Database And Log In To Register Your Entity
All businesses must have an active registration in the SAM database to do business with the Department of Defense. You can register on the SAM website or call 1-866-606-8220. At a minimum, U.S. registrants will need the following:
- DUNS Number, Legal Business Name, and Physical Address matching your DUNS record
- Taxpayer Identification Number and Taxpayer Name associated with your TIN, found on tax documents from the IRS and
- Bank routing number, your bank account number, and your bank account type , to set up Electronic Funds Transfer .
NOTE: If you require a CAGE Code for a Security Clearance you do not need to go through SAM. You can instead complete DOD Form 2051, Request for Assignment of a Commercial and Government Entity Code. Section A must be filled out and signed by your sponsoring government agency. The agency may also request the CAGE Code on their agency letterhead.

Once you submit your Entity Registration for processing, SAM will send your entity information to the DLA for CAGE Code assignment. Verifying Cage Codes Prior To Award
Contracting officers shall verify the offerors CAGE code by reviewing the entitys registration in the System for Award Management . Active registrations in SAM have had the associated CAGE codes verified.
For entities not required to be registered in SAM, the contracting officer shall validate the CAGE code using the CAGE code search feature at .

Commercial And Government Entity Code Reporting
Definition. As used in this provision
Commercial and Government Entity code means
An identifier assigned to entities located in the United States or its outlying areas by the Defense Logistics Agency Commercial and Government Entity Branch to identify a commercial or government entity by unique location or
An identifier assigned by a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization or by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency to entities located outside the United States and its outlying areas that the DLA Commercial and Government Entity Branch records and maintains in the CAGE master file. This type of code is known as a NATO CAGE code.
The Offeror shall provide its CAGE code with its offer with its name and location address or otherwise include it prominently in its proposal. The CAGE code must be for that name and location address. Insert the word CAGE before the number. The CAGE code is required prior to award.
CAGE codes may be obtained via
Registration in the System for Award Management at www.sam.gov. If the Offeror is located in the United States or its outlying areas and does not already have a CAGE code assigned, the DLA Commercial and Government Entity Branch will assign a CAGE code as a part of the SAM registration process. SAM registrants located outside the United States and its outlying areas shall obtain a NCAGE code prior to registration in SAM of this provision).

What Is An Ncage Code
The Commercial and Government Entity Codes and NCAGE Codes are used to recognize companies that sell to the government. Domestic companies that provide products or services to the government are given a designated CAGE Code. However, for foreign companies and non-U.S. based parent companies located outside the U.S., you will need an NCAGE Code from the NATO codification system community.
Established in 1958, the federal government uses the five-character NCAGE Code to identify various companies outside the United States and facilitate the supply chain. After receiving a NCAGE Code, the next step toward bidding on contract opportunities is registering in SAM.
For any company contracted to sell products and/or services to the government, the NCAGE Code relates to everything you do. For example, when you bid on a contract, your NCAGE Code is included on the first page of your 1449 form. The NCAGE Code is also used to manage process and procedures related to your GSA Schedule contract.
Those Who Need Cage Codes For A Security Clearance
The procedure for getting a CAGE Code in conjunction with an application for a security clearance are different. Instead of following the steps above, you do not need to apply via SAM.
Instead, fill out DOD Form 2051, Request for Assignment of a Commercial and Government Entity Code. Your hiring agency may have already applied on your behalf ahead of time, or you may need to fill out the form and submit it via the Defense Logistics Agency.

Your business must have no duplicate registrations. Under normal conditions it takes roughly 10 business days to process the CAGE Code application and youll be contacted by phone or email if there is a need for additional information or verification. DLA will send your information to update SAM and make you eligible to compete for contracts or grants.

System For Award Management
The first thing a corporation must do to be able to market to the government is to register with the System for Award Management at SAM.gov. Upon registering for something, you will give one a CAGE Code.
The DUNS Number and a Taxpayer Identification Number are requirements for a firm to meet to register with SAM. The Data Universal Numbering System number or DUNS number is available for free. Acquiring a DUNS number often takes no more than one or two business days.
The DUNS number is a unique identification provided by a private organization that the United States government has contracted to fulfill its need for unique identifiers. In contrast to the Social Security Number and Employer Identification Number, considered private and confidential information, you can use the DUNS number in a public setting.
Moreover, one can receive a free Employer Identification Number or EIN. You can also use your EIN as the Taxpayer Identification Number or TIN. The Internal Revenue Service is responsible for providing businesses with an Employer Identification Number, primarily used for determining tax liability. The process of obtaining an EIN typically takes around two weeks.
Wait for 12 to 15 working days after completing the information before checking the registration status in SAM.

When Do Cage Codes Expire
CAGE codes expire every five years based on the last time you updated your entity registration in the System for Award Management tool.
If you update your SAM profile annually, youll automatically be renewing your CAGE code information.
Your CAGE code does not have an expiration date if your company received its CAGE code before August 26, 2016.
