Simply put, even at the state level, the vast array of functions and responsibilities that are in the hands of government agencies requires large organizational structure and hierarchies that have to be both efficient and fair. That requires a lot of manpower, and a fair amount of judicious oversight and careful enforcement. In other words, its complicated. And, the process of applying for government jobs had become so impenetrably complex and convoluted that in 2010 President Obama issued an executive order to improve and reform federal job recruitment and hiring procedures. That order set out guidelines for federal agencies, like, eliminate any requirement that applicants respond to essay-style questions when submitting their initial application materials for any federal job allow individuals to apply for federal employment by submitting resumes and cover letters or completing simple, plain language applications, and assess applicants using valid, reliable tools and provide for selection from among a larger number of qualified applicants by using the category rating approach.

Government Jobs For History Majors
Believe it or not, there are many good-paying government jobs for history majors.
Back when I was in college, one of the first classes I took was with a New Jersey history professor. When we had our first class, he told us about how he chose a doctorate in New Jersey history, and how his parents “basically expected him to live in their basement forever.”
The general consensus in society seems to be that history majors only really have one career track they can choose from, teaching. Even my own career advisors had, at one point, told me that.
Had I known back then that this wasn’t true, I wouldn’t have switched majors to software engineering and lived in my own personal hell for three more years. I also probably wouldn’t have dropped out, but rather just graduated at 19 with a degree.
Back then, no one told me how many government jobs for history majors there were out there. But, if you’re a history fan, you might want to reconsider that accounting degree. After all, these positions are still vacant throughout the states.

As a culture, we are familiar with a bachelors degree, but we may not be familiar with the two common types: the bachelor of arts and the bachelor of science. These two types of bachelor degrees offer unique educational opportunities, and while both hold a high level of regard among employers, they are different in both the educational process and the results. Understanding which one is right for you is essential when selecting a bachelors degree.
