    Some people can apply for a new UK EHIC that they can use in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, as well as in EU countries.

    People who can apply for the new card include:

    • nationals from the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland who started living in the UK before 1 January 2021, and their families

    Whether you are applying for the first time, or renewing your benefits, you may need one or more of the following pieces of information to complete your application:

    • Proof of citizenship and identity for everyone who is applying for benefits.

    Apply For A Uk Global Health Insurance Card

    More people than ever qualify for health care during government open enrollment

    The UK Global Health Insurance Card lets you get state healthcare in Europe at a reduced cost or sometimes for free.

    If you have a UK European Health Insurance Card it will be valid until the expiry date on the card. Once it expires, youll need to apply for a GHIC to replace it.

    What To Do If You Think You’ve Been Incorrectly Charged For Medical Treatment By An Eu Member State

    It’s important that you keep documents relating to your treatment. The Overseas Healthcare Services at the NHSBSA may ask you for more information to check your eligibility and the cost of the treatment you had. This could include:

    • receipts or invoices relating to treatment
    • confirmation of payments made to healthcare institutions
    • documents relating to insurance cover if your insurer paid for treatment
    • discharge documents

    They’ll look at your claim to decide whether you were charged when you should have been covered. If they determine that your treatment should have been covered by the UK GHIC, new UK EHIC or existing EHIC, theyll reimburse you or your insurer for the costs of treatment which are covered by your card.     Am I Eligible For The Northern Patient Transportation Program

    You may be eligible for northern transportation subsidy to help pay for transportation costs if you live north of the 53rd parallel in Manitoba and are required to travel long distances for specialty medical care.

    The Northern Patient Transportation Program subsidizes medical transportation costs for eligible Manitoba residents in the north to obtain medical or hospital care not available in their home community. Subsidies may include costs for an essential escort .

    Program eligibility is limited to Manitoba residents who live:

    • north of the 53rd parallel from the Saskatchewan boundary to the west side of Lake Winnipeg
    • north of the 51st parallel from the east side of Lake Winnipeg to the Ontario boundary

    If You’re Abroad And Do Not Have Your Card With You

    You can get a Provisional Replacement Certificate to prove your entitlement to medically necessary healthcare if you travel to Europe without your existing EHIC, UK GHIC or new UK EHIC and need treatment during your visit.

    If you need a PRC outside opening hours, you should call as soon as possible the next working day.

    The PRC will give you the same cover as an existing EHIC, UK GHIC or new UK EHIC until you return home.

    When calling for a PRC, you’ll need to give:

    When Should I Start My Application

    You can apply for paid leave starting 60 days before your leave would actually start. Try to notify your employer at least 30 days ahead of time.

    However, it may also be that you need to take leave suddenly and unexpectedly. In those cases, you can apply for paid leave after you began taking time off from your job. This is called retroactive leave.

    If you apply for retroactive paid leave, your benefits may be reduced if:

    • Youre applying more than 90 days after your leave began
    • You were still being paid by your employer during your leave
    • You used another leave program, such as your vacation time or sick leave
    • You received another wage replacement from the government, such as unemployment benefits, during that time

    Compulsory Health Insurance: Start Of Coverage

    Health insurance is compulsory from the time you register with a Dutch municipality or start working for a Dutch employer. You have 4 months to take out health insurance. In the meantime, you will be covered under the standard health insurance package.

You will then be covered as of the date of the extension.

    Study Permit Effective September 1, 2018, individuals with a Study Permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada are no longer eligible for health insurance coverage through Manitoba Health and Seniors Care .
