Manny Lopes Joins Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Massachusetts As Executive Vice President Of Public Markets And Government Relations
BOSTON, Nov. 10, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Manny Lopes has joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts as executive vice president of public markets and government relations. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Lopes served as president and chief executive officer of East Boston Neighborhood Health Center , the largest community health center in Massachusetts and one of the largest in the country. There he held a variety of positions including leadership roles in IT, human resources, and operations before becoming president and CEO. Lopes also served on the Blue Cross board of directors from 2017 until joining the companys leadership team.
In his new role, Lopes has overall responsibility for Medicare as well as government and regulatory affairs.
Manny is a seasoned leader whos highly respected in our community, said Blue Cross President and CEO Andrew Dreyfus. His demonstrated leadership and decades-long commitment to bettering health outcomes for the most vulnerable will be an asset as we continue to push forward with our work to address health inequities.
Lopes has a long history of developing innovative programs that improve health care quality, access and equity. Under his leadership, EBNHC grew dramatically, increasing the number of patients served by nearly 40% and adding two state-of-the-art facilities.

What Are The Discounts For Additional Eyewear
All BCBS FEP Vision independent providers are required to extend a 20% discount to all members that purchase additional frames, and/or spectacle lenses, and/or daily wear contact lenses, and a 10% discount when purchasing additional disposable contact lenses. This discount can either be in conjunction with their benefit or at any other time. The materials portion of the members benefit does not need to be exhausted first for the member to receive this discount.

Blue Cross And Blue Shield
Blue Cross and Blue Shield merged in 1982, and since then the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association has worked to provide personalized health coverage in every state and federal territory. Now its coverage extends to nearly one-in-three Americans.
The association is composed of 36 U.S. health insurance companies and organizations. These franchises operate independently of the association and are community based.
As licensees, they provide health insurance plans under either associations brands and within specified regions. The forms of coverage may differ, but residents in each state can enjoy access to some kind of coverage.
In addition, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are among the U.S. governments major partners in administering Medicare, a health program designed for the countrys disabled and elderly population.

The first step to getting the most from your BCBS vision insurance benefits is knowing what your vision plan covers. Blue Cross Blue Shield offers several levels of vision plans, and most BCBS vision plans include at least one annual eye exam each year.
Depending on the plan, benefits may also include:

With your BCBS vision plan, you may have to pay a small copay $10 or $15, for example on lenses for glasses. You may also pay more if you exceed your plans frames or contacts allowance.
For example, the BCBS 2022 FEP Vision plan for federal employees covers frames from the BCBS FEP Exclusive Collection. However, if you buy frames from another provider, the FEP vision plan has a $140 frame allowance. If you opt for contacts instead of glasses, you receive an allowance for contact lenses of up to $130. If you exceed those amounts, youll still receive a discount on charges over the allowance.

Premiums for FEPs Standard Optionthe most popular choice for federal workers and retireesare increasing by 3 percent. This is the fourth consecutive year that Standard Option premiums have gone up by just 3 percent or less.
