Us Energy Information Administration

The U.S. Energy Information Administration is a non-partisan statistical agency within DOE that collects comprehensive U.S. energy data and prepares analyses, market forecasts, and long-term outlooks. The EIA surveys and collects data on a variety of energy markets, including petroleum, coal, and natural gas, as well as renewable energy sources including solar.

This data is accessible free of charge, making the EIA an important resource for local governments. The EIA provides several resources that are particularly useful, notably the State Energy Data System . The SEDS database contains a variety of state-specific data, including information on all types of energy consumption by source and sector energy production electricity generation and energy prices. The EIA also provides interactive maps that show the location of energy infrastructure. Additional information can be found in the Electric Power Annual, which includes monthly distributed solar data by state.

In addition, the EIA publishes an annual report, the Annual Energy Outlook, which makes projections on the future of national energy markets. This includes projections for the growth of both the utility-scale and distributed solar markets to 2040, based on current laws and policies. The EIA also releases short publications daily with updates on data trends.

    Solar 101: A Beginner

Solar energy in the U.S. is growing at an unprecedented rate, and with more than 53 gigawatts of solar photovoltaic capacity installed to date, our nation now generates enough power to electrify over 10 million homes. A number expected to double by 2023, so in the next five years, approximately 15 GW of solar PV capacity will be installed annually in the U.S.1

To encourage more homeowners like you to go solar, governments, electric utilities and other organizations offer financial incentives, rebates, and tax credits that make solar more affordable when you purchase a system through a solar plan, such as Sunruns BrightBuy or BrightAdvantage. Depending on the state youre living in, you could reduce the cost of your new solar panels from 30% to 50%.2

How Does Tesla Powerwall 2 Installation In Hawaii Work

When it comes to solar energy, there are a few different options available to you. One of the most popular options is traditional solar panels. These panels are made up of a number of individual solar cells that are attached to a large piece of equipment. This equipment is then connected to the power grid and used to generate electricity.

On the other hand, Tesla Powerwall 2 is a newer option that uses lithium-ion batteries instead of traditional solar cells. The advantage of this technology is that it has the ability to store energy from the sun for use at night or during times when there isnt much sunlight. This makes Powerwall 2 an ideal choice for people who live in areas with limited sunlight, like Hawaii.

To get an estimate for installing Tesla Powerwall 2 in Hawaii, contact one of our specialists today! They will be able to provide you with a cost estimate and answer any questions about the installation process. In addition, there are several other types of solar technology available in Hawaii, such as rooftop solar panels or ground-mounted solar arrays.

    Solar Energy Technologies Office

The Solar Energy Technologies Office is part of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and funds innovations in solar technologies. In its own words, SETO supports early-stage research and development in three technology areas: photovoltaics , concentrating solar-thermal power , and systems integration with the goal of improving the affordability, reliability, and domestic benefit of solar technologies on the grid. Funding from SETO supports all facets of the solar market, including improvements in the technical efficiencies of PV systems improvements in grid performance and reliability and the creation of new business models.

A sub-program within SETO works to lower the soft costs of going solar, which are the non-hardware costs that drive up the expense of installations. Local government processes in areas such as permitting, inspection, and planning and zoning can drive up solar soft costs. To reduce these costs, SETO provides networking and technical assistance, data analysis, business innovation, and training. One program funded by SETO isSolSmart, which provides official designation to local governments that reduce soft costs by addressing obstacles to solar energy development. SolSmart provides no-cost technical assistance to help communities achieve designation.

    Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System

Want To Install Solar Panels? These Rebates Are The Best in Canada

The Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System is another federal tax policy that encourages solar energy deployment. MACRS is a common way to assess depreciation, which is a non-cash expense reflecting the fact that equipment is subject to wear and tear over time and will eventually need to be replaced. Therefore, taking a depreciation expense reduces the income subject to federal income taxes.

Under Section 168 of the tax code, equipment which uses solar energy to generate electricity qualifies for a five-year accelerated depreciation schedule. The value of MACRS to the owner of the solar energy project is a function of the owners tax rate. The higher the tax rate, the more valuable the MACRS deduction. When the solar ITC is claimed in conjunction with MACRS, the owner of the solar project must reduce the projects depreciable basis by one-half the value of the ITC.

People Invited To Make Representations To Government On Mallard Pass Solar Farm Application

People are being asked by the Government for their views on what could become the UK’s largest solar energy generation scheme.

Mallard Pass is a project on such a scale that it requires approval from MP Grant Shapps, secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy, rather than that of the local planning authorities.

The scheme, proposed by Windel Energy and Canadian Solar, would be the size of more than 800 football pitches, spanning out from Essendine towards Ryhall, Uffington, Stamford, Pickworth and Carlby. Solar panels mounted in fields would gather energy to be stored in large batteries and fed into the national grid.

Representations must be made to the planning inspectorate by Thursday, March 2.

The Mallard Pass site would be 852 hectares in size with solar arrays, a substation, fencing and security infrastructure.

The Mallard Pass Action Group opposes the scheme and is raising funds to employ legal and planning experts.

MPs Gareth Davies and Alicia Kearns have set out their views.

Why You Should Consider Getting Quotes For Solar Sooner Rather Than Later

As mentioned above, the amount of solar rebate you can claim depends on the current market price of an STC. At a market price of $36 after fees , the rebate is worth roughly $396 per kW installed. However, in times of high demand for solar panel installations, lots of STCs are created.

When supply of STCs increases too much, the STC price can decrease and the subsidy reduces supply and demand gotta love economics 101!

Some years back, when the government really looked like it was going to scrap the solar rebate entirely, demand for system installations caused the price of STCs to drop to $17.00.

So, if you bought a 6.6kW system today, youd be eligible for a rebate of roughly $2,592. However, if demand for solar panels goes up too much or something else occurred that pushed the STC price down to $17.00 again, youd only be entitled to a rebate of around $1,224 for the exact same system. Its a big difference.

If you get 3 free quotes for solar now, youll be locking in the current rebate based on the current STC price but if you wait, the STC price could drop and significantly reduce the savings from the subsidy you can claim.

What Size System Can I Install

For grid-tied systems, the maximum capacity you can install depends on your lot and electrical infrastructure. You will be eligible for the micro-generation program.

Many residential properties in Yukon have a limit of 5 kilowatts for the system output. In the case of a solar photovoltaic system, that means the inverter rating. The array can be larger.

For lots with a higher limit, our micro-generation program allows up to 50 kilowatt systems.
