You participate in a qualifying federal assistance program. At least one person in the household is in the free and reduced-price lunch program or the school breakfast program . $65b For Improving Broadband Access

You may qualify

The 2021 income limit for the Emergency Broadband Benefit program increases with the number of people living in the same household. Others who have experienced a substantial loss of income since the pandemic started in 2020 may also qualify.

Persons Income limit

8 $60,291

The $14.2 billion Affordable Connectivity Program is just a part of the $65 billion in the new law earmarked to improve broadband access.

Some of that money will go toward what Kahsai calls digital equity. The new law allocates $2.75 billion for digital literacy training to make sure that everyone regardless of language, ability or age has the skills needed to take advantage of their connection to the internet.

Some $42.5 billion is being allocated to bring high-speed internet to unserved areas often rural areas where population density is low and mountainous areas that can be challenging for companies to reach that will benefit families of all incomes. This new service must have speeds of at least 100 Mbps for downloads and 20 Mbps for uploads, speeds that match todays needs for multiple users in one household and increasing desire for streaming video.

Each state will start out with $100 million from that pot of money and will be able to get more based on a states unserved and underserved needs.

With the new law, we have an opportunity to put a dent in the digital divide, Kahsai says.

More Than 13 Million Enrolled In Acp

About 14.5 million Americans and 22 percent of those 65 and older dont have access to high-speed internet, at least 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload speed, the FCC estimates. Other estimates say that as many as 42 million people in the U.S. are on the wrong side of the digital divide. The FCC is updating its high-speed broadband map to provide a more accurate picture of access.

The ACP doesn’t count the total number of people served through its program. Instead, it looks at households since utility bills serve addresses, not individuals. Almost 13.2 million households were enrolled as of July 25, according to the ACP website.

Puerto Rico has the highest rate of ACP enrollment per 1,000 households as of July 25, according to the website. It has second-highest poverty rate, behind American Samoa, among states and territories that are part of the U.S. Census Bureaus American Community Survey.

Louisiana, New Mexico, Kentucky and Mississippi round out the top five for ACP enrollment rates. Those jurisdictions have the fourth-, fifth-, sixth- and third-highest percentages of residents living in poverty.

What Does The Program Offer

AT& T Access provides a discounted internet service to low-income households that qualify under pre-defined criteria. The program is available to all citizens residing in AT& Ts 21-state wireline footprint.

Depending on network infrastructure you get up to 25 Mbps fast internet for $10. In areas, where the network only allows access to lower speeds, the monthly service charge is also lower. The only thing that may add up to the monthly service charge is any one-time transactional fee, monthly cost recovery surcharge, or taxes.

Based on the speed the AT& T network is able to deliver, subscribers get a monthly data allowance of 150GB to 1TB. There is however a $10 overage fee for every additional 50GB of data used. Eligible families dont have to worry about the upfront installation cost as AT& T waives that for participating households. In-home Wi-Fi is free of cost, and so is access to the AT& T nationwide Wi-Fi hotspot network.

So, all-in-all you can enjoy high-speed internet at a fixed monthly price, without a contract holding you down!

At& t Internet 300 Plan

AT& T’s Internet 300 plan runs on a fast and reliable fiber connection, offering plenty of speed for the average user. The biggest drawback is that AT& T’s fiber plans have fairly limited availability compared to the provider’s other plans.2 Starting at $55 per month, plus taxes and fees , it offers solid bang for your buck.

The Internet 300 plan is a good option for older adults who use the internet multiple times a day for a variety of tasks, such as emails, downloading videos and movies, streaming music and television, and making video calls. This plan is superb for older adults who host friends and family often, as several users can be online at once without any issue. With this service, you’ll also get unlimited data, so you won’t have to worry about overage fees.

Special Offer: Right now, AT& T is offering up to a $200 AT& T Visa Reward Card if you order an internet plan with a download speed of 300 Mbps or more.

For comparison, other companies weve reviewed, like Xfinity have the same download speed of up to 300 Mbps at a similar price, but in cable form, which is less reliable than fiber. Compared to other fiber internet providers, such as Verizon, with plans starting at $39.99 per month for up to 300 Mbps, AT& T is a bit pricer.
