Your EIN is like a Social Security number for your business and is necessary for filing your taxes. You can sign up for one online here. Again, there are certain circumstances where you may not need one. To see if you do, the IRS has a short survey you can fill out.
Register Your Business In The Sam Database
The System Award Management resource is the database of vendors of goods and services doing business with the federal government. Sometimes called self-certifying, SAM registration is required by the Federal Acquisitions Regulations for all prospective vendors. SAM registration must be completed before your business can be awarded any government contract, basic agreement, basic ordering agreement, or blanket purchase agreement. SAM registration is free and can be done completely online.
As part of SAM registration process you will be able to record your business size and socio-economic status, as well as all FAR-required solicitation clauses and certifications. These certifications are explained in the Offerors Representations and Certifications – Commercial Items section of the FAR.
SAM registration also serves as a valuable marketing tool for government contracting businesses. The federal agencies routinely search the SAM database to find prospective vendors based on goods and services provided, size, location, experience, ownership and more. In addition, SAM informs the agencies of firms that are certified under the SBAs 8 Development and HUBZone programs.

A business entity or not-for-profit corporation may hire a firmreferred to as an intermediaryto transact on its behalf.
Currently, intermediaries can transact via authorized service provider or by mail. At this point in time, they cannot transact directly in the Ontario Business Registry, however future system updates will address online access for intermediaries.
The following qualified intermediaries can continue to transact via and email:
- lawyers and paralegals governed by the Law Society of Ontario
- Chartered Professional Accountants governed by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario

Do I Need To Register The Llc Name With My State
The name of your business is important as it is likely what you will build your brand, products, and services off of. Youll want to protect that name as much as possible by making sure others do not build a business with the same name or a similar one. Upon LLC formation or the creation of your limited liability company, you must register your name with the federal government. In most states, they do not let businesses register as an LLC if the name is already registered. If you have successfully formed your LLC with the federal government, you usually do not have to separately register the LLC name with your state.
However, even if you filled out the LLC paperwork and successfully registered your business, you have other name registration options open to you:
- Register a Fictitious Name: If you plan on selling services or products under a name that differs from your LLC registered name, then you may need to fill out an assumed name certificate with your state Department of Corporations or Secretary of State.
- File a DBA Certificate: Certain states require LLCs to file a doing business as certificate, or DBA, with the fictitious name if it differs from the LLC name on file. The certificate must be filed with the city clerk or other official.
- Trademark the Name: If you really dont want anyone else encroaching on your brand, you might apply for a trademark for your business name with the federal government.

Buyandsell.gc.ca is a website managed by Public Services and Procurement Canada and contains all Government of Canada tenders. This facility makes it easier to supply goods and services to federal departments and agencies.
Businesses can register as a supplier of goods and services with Buyandsell.gc.ca. They will receive a 15-digit Procurement Business Number , based on their BN, which Buyandsell.gc.ca gets from the CRA and emails to the vendor. However, the business must first get a BNfrom the CRA.
