Who Is The Ideal Student For This Program

The certificate is designed for practicing MDs, PAs, PTs, and OTs, as well as students of these disciplines and allied health professionals who want to be research partners in sponsored projects. It ensures you know how to conduct clinical trials according to applicable laws, regulations, and the institutional policy that governs the research.

Analysis Of Alternatives And Vendor Selection

The relatively small population of project managers to be trained made an in-house instructional design effort prohibitively expensive. Therefore, the committees conducted an analysis of possible outside sources of project management education.

AT& T Federal Systems approached the Educational Services Institute , a training and consulting firm that develops programs jointly with The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management. ESI specializes in contracting, logistics, and operations and has extensive experience in the federal arena. ESI and GWU had in 1984 co-founded the Masters Certificate in Government Contracting, a premier program of its kind in the United States.

In April 1989, AT& T Federal Systems decided, for the following reasons, to retain ESI/GWU to develop a curriculum for federal project managers:

  • ESI/GWU proposed to develop a Masters Certificate in Project Management, based on the widely recognized GWU certificate in government contracting and tailored to AT& Ts needs.
  • Numerous AT& T personnel had attended ESI/GWU public courses and had been impressed with their quality and practicality.
  • ESI and GWU were located near AT& T Federal Systems Washington D.C. headquarters.
  • ESIs expertise in both federal and commercial operations and procurement made it uniquely qualified to design a program focusing on both project management and knowledge of the federal customer.

Ptac Director Juanita Beauford Helps Delaware Businesses Compete Forand Wingovernment Contracts

In 1984, Juanita Beauford became co-owner of a medical supply company that received numerous awards from the state of Pennsylvania to provide medical equipment in Philadelphia neighborhood clinics. Two years later, she launched a second business on her own to deliver personal care products to the Delaware criminal justice system, a government contract she serviced for seven years while concurrently earning two masters degrees.

Beauford subsequently spent nearly two decades helping Delawares small businesses compete for similar government contracts as director of Delawares Procurement Technical Assistance Center . She continued learning, too, earning her masters certification in federal contracting at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and completing numerous contracting courses through the Defense Acquisition University.

Today, Beauford is fondly known as the guru of government contracting. With PTACs help, Delawares small business community has won more than $100 million per year in government contracts since 2015, more than twice the amount secured by businesses in Massachusetts.

This requires a deep knowledge of government needs, the capabilities of Delawares small business community and the ability to work with small business to prepare, submit and win government contracts, said David Weir, director of the University of Delawares Office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships , where PTAC is housed.
