Paid Time Off For Antenatal Care
What is it?
Regardless of how long youve been in your job, you have a right to paid time off from work to go to your antenatal appointments.
This time off is as well as your annual leave.
Antenatal care includes:
- doctor-recommended appointments for example, relaxation or parenting classes.
Your time off should include travel time to and from each appointment.
The babys father or your partner are entitled to take unpaid time off work to go with you to two of your antenatal appointments. The maximum time is capped at six hours and 30 minutes for each appointment.

Tell your employer when your antenatal appointments are happening. Try to give them as much notice as you can to help with work planning.

The Women, Infants, and Children program offers nutritional food and education. You can also get some screening services with referrals to other agencies as needed. If you are breastfeeding, you may qualify for up to one year or for 6 months after birth if you are not breastfeeding.

This group of persons does not have any claim to benefits in accordance with SGB II/XII, but rather in accordance with the Benefits for Asylum Seekers Act. However, benefits for the education and participation package can also be applied for.
