According to HUD, for those who are considered low-income and eligible for the voucher program, housing choice vouchers can be used in a couple of different ways.

The first is that when looking for a place to live, the apartment falls under the category. In the past, this was known as Section Eight.

Secondly, if people are already living in an apartment, they can have a portion of their rent paid for by the government that goes directly to the landlord. The remainder of the rent to be paid is to be paid by renters to the landlord.

Therefore, if single pregnant women need a sanitary place to live, per the publication, the housing choice voucher program may be something to look into.
