Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield offers Medicare Advantage plans with Essential Extras

WASHINGTON Today the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Government-wide Service Benefit Plan, also known as the Federal Employee Program , announced 2016 benefits for federal workers and retirees in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. The benefits feature a 50 percent increase in the incentives available to members who use FEPs state-of-the-art wellness tools to promote healthier lifestyles as well as a new incentive program for expectant mothers that focuses on prenatal care.

In 2016, FEP will continue to offer workers the ability to choose Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans for a full range of comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision.

This year also marks the federal governments introduction of the new Self Plus One enrollment in the FEHB Program, providing an additional choice to Self- Only and Self and Family enrollment types available under both Standard and Basic Option. Enrollees in two-person families can save money by opting for a Self Plus One premium instead of a Family premium while continuing to benefit from the comprehensive plan design and broad network access they have come to expect from FEP.

Promoting Healthier Lifestyles

To earn the $170, FEP members can:

  • Earn a $50 wellness incentive upon completion of the BHA
  • Earn $40 each for achieving up to three personalized health goals

The personalized health goals currently eligible for the incentive are:

  • Increased exercise

This case of first impression is before the Court for a declaration of the rights and relations of plaintiff and defendants under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Act, 5 U.S.C. §§ 8901-8913 and the Florida Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act, Fla.Stat. § 717 in regard to provision VIII of Contract Number CS 1039 between OPM and the Blue Cross Association. At issue is the disposition of amounts represented by Federal Employee Program benefit checks issued by plaintiff to federal employee benefit recipients which remain uncashed for two years or more.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many members to turn to remote, virtual care services to manage their health as they attempt to socially distance and limit their exposure to the coronavirus. FEP was at the forefront expanding its benefits in 2020 during the pandemic to cover members having virtual visits with their primary and specialty doctors. Recognizing that virtual visits are becoming a permanent part of health care, in 2021 FEP will cover virtual consultations, and medical evaluation and management services with primary care providers and specialists as a regular benefit even after the pandemic is over. Members will pay the regular office visit copayments/coinsurance under Standard Option, Basic Option and FEP Blue Focus.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2020 /PRNewswire/ Today, the Blue Cross® and Blue Shield® Federal Employee Program® announced 2021 benefits, including newly expanded telemedicine benefits, along with a new tool to help provide greater cost transparency for members. Additionally, FEP will keep the rates the same in 2021 for its newest product, FEP Blue Focus®, as well as for Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP Vision. Rates for Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP Dental products will remain at 2020 levels.

Upon consideration of the motion, the evidence of record, and the applicable law, I conclude that there are no genuine issues of material fact and that the defendant is entitled to judgment as a matter of law.

  • We will cover online or phone telemedicine visits you receive from your primary care providers or specialists who are outside of our contracted Teladoc® network. You pay your standard primary care and specialist copays for most non-Teladoc telemedicine visits.

Preventive care

  • We will provide preventive care benefits for bowel preparation medications associated with colon cancer screenings .
  • We will provide preventive care benefits for certain HIV medications for members at risk for HIV.
  • All chest X-rays will now be covered under your regular medical benefits. Previously, we covered one per calendar year for adults as part of your preventive benefits.

Routine Annual Physical Incentive Program

  • We are extending the deadline for FEP Blue Focus members to request their routine annual physical incentive. Youll now have until December 31, 2022 for the 2021 program.

Hypertension Management Program

  • The Hypertension Management Program will be limited to the contract holder and spouse on your contract, 18 and older. If you are a Standard or Basic Option member, you must complete the Blue Health Assessment to receive the free blood pressure monitor.

Eligibility requirements

Virtual health care is available free of charge to eligible Ontario Blue Cross® clients* with:

  • Disability insurance .

To access TELUS Health Virtual Care service, you must have one of the following products:

Federal employees under both Medicare and FEHB could see much higher insurance costs if they pick the wrong plan.

A lot of federal employees use Blue Cross Blue Shield for their health insurance but very few understand what happens to their plan in retirement.

And I have seen many feds pay way too much for health insurance because of this.

CONNECT with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield: Medicare Advantage Plans

Eligible members over 18 with an FEP MyBlue® account will receive $50 on their MyBlue Wellness Card when they provide official documentation of their COVID-19 vaccination record. Members can use this to buy qualified medical expenses.

According to BCBS, FEP is the first Federal Employees Health Benefit program to offer a vaccination incentive like this.

FedSmith has been advised that eligible members who have already been vaccinated for COVID-19 can also take advantage of this program and receive the $50 on their MyBlue Wellness Card. These individuals will also have to submit evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination record.
