Wosb Certification Eligibility Checklist

Here is a quick checklist to see if you qualify for certification:

  • Confirm your size standard as a small business
  • Be at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens. Provide any ONE of the following documents for enough firm owners who are U.S. Citizens to demonstrate that the applicant firm is at least 51 percent owned and controlled by United States citizens:

  • Show strong character and the ability to meet contractual duties.

The Us Womens Chamber Of Commerce

As opposed to WBENC, the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce does offer Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business certification in addition to WOSB. It takes around 15-30 days with a cost of $275 for members and $350 for non-members.

Make An Account With The Sba

There are two ways to certify as a women-owned small business, and both require you to use the Small Business Administration’s .

3. Gather required materials

The SAM and SBA will help you determine which materials you need to submit, but you will likely need to prepare proof of U.S. citizenship and documents proving the legitimacy of your business, such as its articles of incorporation, joint venture agreements, partnership agreements, articles of organization or sole proprietor certificate. How Long Will The Application Process Take

  • Within a week of receiving your online application, we will email you to let you know we have assigned your application to a certification analyst.
  • An analyst will review your application and documents, and call you in about two weeks with questions and any needed additional information.
  • After your analyst receives this additional information, it takes about 2 to 4 weeks to analyze your file.
  • We will contact you to schedule an on-site visit at your business.
  • Your analyst will conduct the on-site visit and finish processing your application.
  • Your application then goes through final review, which takes about 1 to 2 weeks.
  • We will email you a letter once we have made a final decision on your certification.

    Can I Get Wosb Certified Without The Wbe

    We will only add on the WOSB certificate for those eligible for the WBE. If your WBE application is denied, we will not complete your WOSB certificate. You can choose to apply for WOSB directly with the SBA .

    Please also note that you cannot add on the WOSB mid-year. It must be added on at the time of submitting your certification or recertification application.

    To gain access to these WOSB contracts and opportunities, organizations first need to undergo a comprehensive registration process with the federal government. As with many federal processes, the difference between certification approvals and denials can frequently come down to the smallest clerical errors. The entire registration and certification processes roughly takes between 60 and 70 hours, and that doesnt include the necessary follow-up work of certification renewals, change-in-business updates, and more.     To qualify as a women-owned small business or WOSB, your business must meet the following requirements:

    • Your company must qualify as a small business based on SBA small business size standards. The standards are usually stated in terms of employee size and/or annual revenue, and vary depending on your industry code.
    • Your company must be 51 percent owned by women who are U.S. citizens.
    • Women must manage the operations on a daily basis.
    • Women must make long-term decisions for the company.

The main difference between these types of businesses is that EDWOSBs are owned by Economically Disadvantaged women. Businesses certified as EDWOSBs qualify for extra funding and may be selected in smaller set-aside solicitations pools than businesses certified as WOSBs.
