Titans Swim Academy Receives 2018 Grant Funding From Usa Swimming Foundation
Cary, NC April 2, 2018 Triangle Aquatic Centers TITANS Swim Academy was chosen as one of 78 Make a Splash programs in the U.S. to receive grant money from the USA Swimming Foundation in 2018. The awarded money will go toward TITANS Swim Academys continued efforts to provide free or reduced cost swim lessons. The USA Swimming Foundation awarded a total of $436,515 to programs across the country that will provide swim lessons to an estimated 16,000 children.
We are incredibly excited to be chosen for this grant and know that we will be able to positively affect the lives of many local kids, Director of Operations at TAC, stated. With this money we can continue to grow our Make a Splash program, working towards our goal of drown-proofing the community.
Triangle Aquatic Center has been part of the North Carolina Triangle area community for the past ten years. There is not enough resources and education provided to children in Primary to learn how to swim and become aware of beach safety. For this reason, we dont general including funding for this support in their plan because parents are expected to take part due to the age of their child.

Vouchers Available To Fund Kids Water Safety Classes

The state government is making sure all students in Northern Victoria have the opportunity to catch up on vital swimming and water safety skills, with vouchers for catch-up lessons missed during the pandemic.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said swimming and water safety education had been part of the Victorian Curriculum since 2016, but restrictions had meant many schools had not been able to deliver practical swimming lessons during the past year.
School swimming is always a highlight of the school year and its essential that students across the north east be able to experience the fun and vital education that our water safety programs provide, Ms Symes said.
All government and Catholic primary schools that deliver swimming programs will provide students who missed out on lessons in 2021 with vouchers for lessons at their schools usual facilities using their accrued swimming funding.
The vouchers will be available this term with bookings able to be made up until the end of June 2022.
Schools will liaise with their usual swim school to confirm the eligible students, the number of swimming lessons students can access and when they will be available and parents will be provided with the voucher to book lessons at the designated swim school for after school, weekends or during school holidays.
Swim England Welcomes New Fund To Help Clubs Struggling Financially
Swim England chief executive Jane Nickerson has welcomed a new package to help clubs that are struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sport England has announced £195 million is being made available to help the sport and physical activity sector through the current crisis.
It includes a £20 million Community Emergency Fund, which will be opened immediately for clubs and community organisations to bid for grants of between £300 and £10,000.
Its fantastic to see Sport England launch this Community Emergency Fund to help clubs across all sports that are struggling the most in this difficult time.
Wed encourage our swimming clubs to carefully look at this criteria and see if this financial package can assist those of you most in need through this crisis.
These are worrying times for our clubs but we will get through this unprecedented situation and Id like to thank Sport England for delivering this financial support.
There are also plenty of other government funding sources that could be a huge help to our clubs as well and wed urge them to investigate if these are a viable option.

Swimathon Grants Financial Help Worth 30000 To Aquatics Organisations
Dozens of aquatics organisations from across England have received grants totalling almost £30,000 from the Swimathon Foundation Covid-19 Relief Fund.
The Foundation has helped give a lifeline to clubs, swim schools and organisations in England which have suffered financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 100 grants were distributed across the United Kingdom after the Swimathon Foundation increased its financial commitment from £30,000 to £50,000 after being overwhelmed by applications.
A total of £29,765 was shared between 61 Swim England-affiliated organisations.
Swimathon supporter and former Commonwealth and World Champion Mark Foster said: It is fantastic to see the Swimathon Foundation support the swimming community at this difficult time.
These grants will be a lifeline to many people and will play a crucial role in helping to support local clubs and individuals who do so much to keep swimming communities active.

Swimathon has raised more than £50 million for good causes since it was formed in 1997 and more than 750,000 people have taken part.
This years event was due to take place at more than 600 pools between 27-29 March but was postponed until 16-18 October due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Carried Forward Unspent Pe And Sport Premium Grant Funding
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we relaxed the ring-fencing arrangements for the PE and sport premium in the 2019 to 2020 academic year, to allow any unspent grant to be carried forward into the 2020 to 2021 academic year. Due to the continuation of the pandemic, this has also been applied to any unspent funding for the 2020 to 2021 academic year.
Any unspent funding that has been carried forward must be spent in full by 31 July 2022. Schools will need to factor this into spending plans for their 2021 to 2022 PE and sport premium allocation. The conditions of grant reflect this.

Kids Dive Into Learn To Swim Voucher Program
More pre-school aged children will be safer around water under measures announced in the 2021-22 NSW Budget.
The $44 million program will make a $100 voucher for swimming lessons available to every pre-school child aged three to six in NSW.
Following the success of the Active Kids program, which has seen NSW families save more than $320 million on sport registration fees since its inception, the new learn to swim voucher program will ease cost of living pressures even further, Mr Perrottet said.
Importantly, every parent should enjoy the peace of mind their child will be safe in and around the water, with the new voucher program helping to achieve this.
Ultimately this is the type of support that will not only save people money, it could help save lives.
Minister for Sport Natalie Ward said it is critical children have basic swimming and water safety skills.
Australia is all about sunshine, BBQs and swimming, either at your local pool, beach or river, Mrs Ward said.
Families across NSW will be able to use these vouchers when they enroll their children in swimming lessons, helping to ensure every NSW child has access to quality swimming and water safety education before they start school.
The program adds to the more than 130 NSW Government rebates, concessions and other measures available to help families with the cost of living.
Similar to the Active Kids program, vouchers will be redeemed at registered providers.

This means that you must use the PE and sport premium to:

- build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

How We Calculate Funding
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.
In cases where schools do not follow year groups , pupils aged 5 to 10 attract the funding.
In most cases, we determine how many pupils in your school attract the funding by using data from the January 2021 school census.
If you are a new school or a school teaching eligible pupils for the first time in the academic year 2021 to 2022, we will base your funding on data from the autumn 2021 school census.

Bill Shorten says a future ALP government would fund extra classes and water safety lessons
All primary school children would have access to swimming lessons under a future Labor government, Bill Shorten has announced in response to a spate of summer drownings.
The opposition leader has committed $46m over the next four years to ensure all Australian children receive school-based swimming lessons.
Aussies love swimming, but too many young people are growing up without learning sufficient water safety skills to keep them safe, Shorten said on Sunday.
About one in five Australian children leave primary school unable to swim 50 metres.
Almost 250 people drowned in Australian waterways in the past year and one in five were aged under 25.
There have been 65 drownings during this summer alone.
The prime minister, Scott Morrison, said he also wanted to prevent drownings and ensure every Australian child learns to swim.
Even over this summer once again we have the devastating and tragic loss of more young lives who got access to swimming pools and other swimming places and lost their lives. It is absolutely dreadful, he said.
State and territory governments run these programs comprehensively for everybody right around the country.
Morrison said he would look at providing more commonwealth cash as part of the budget process.
This is unfair and unsafe. We dont want children to miss out, he said.
