Revived Ev Tax Credits Have Officially Been Signed By Potus

In late July 2022 the US Senate shared it was moving forward to vote on EV tax credit reform after Senator Joe Manchin took a break from huffing coal to finally agree to include investments to curb climate change.

One of the most prominent parts of the bill includes the long-awaited and fought over electric vehicle tax credit reform. In this iteration of the bill, access to the tax credit will be returned to those who have already exhausted the threshold, including Tesla and GM vehicles.

On August 7, 2022 it was approved by the Senate and a week later signed into law by President Biden.

Government Grants: What Are They And How Do I Qualify

Government grants are monetary allotments from the US Government awarded to certain individuals who formally apply and are deemed eligible. These grants are given at the local, state, and federal levels of government. Government grants can be sought after and used for a variety of purposes such as to pay off debt, start a business, pay college tuition, etc. If you could use some extra cash for a legitimate reason that would inevitably increase the quality of your life in some manner, you may want to consider applying for a government grant.

One of the most appealing characteristics of government grants is that the recipient is not required to pay it back. No debt is incurred upon receiving a grant. It is not a loan, so it does not involve revenue sharing, direct appropriation, interest rate subsidy, loan guarantees, or any other form of technical assistance. If an applicant receives an award, that money then fully belongs to the recipient at which point they would then use the money for the intended purpose as stated in the application process. The reason the government awards grants is because they are interested in economic stimulation and are willing to allocate funds to certain individuals if they believe that the persons use of said money will advocate for economic growth in some way, either locally or nationally.

Example Of A Government Grant

The performing arts is one popular category for many government agencies awarding grants. For example, in early 2019 the U.S. Embassys Public Affairs Section in Moscow sought grant applications to identify and select American artists and performers to bring to Russia for short-term programs in the fields of music, dance, theater, film and television acting, and culinary arts.

Eligible applicants could include nonprofits, small businesses, and public or private universities grantees could receive up to $650,000 to produce performances in Russia. The goals of the grant included strengthening people-to-people ties between the U.S. and Russia and showcasing American values by presenting the full range of American creativity and innovation.

What Are The Types Of Small Business Grant Programs

Broadly speaking, there are five types of small business grant programs. Each of these programs have pros and cons. Lets take a quick look.

    • Federal small business grants: For businesses looking for a lot of capital, federal grants are the best option. These federal grants tend to be tied to government agencies that have clear requirements when it comes to qualifying for the capital.
    • State and regional small business grants: State grants hand out less money than federal ones, and its comparatively easier to qualify. For these local grants, its important to have a strong network to connect with the right people working at the state agencies.
    • Corporate small business grants: A number of large companies and corporations have philanthropic initiatives that include grants.
    • Startup business grants: Designed for entrepreneurs starting their business and looking to fund projects, these grants are issued by both government agencies and private companies.
    • Specialty business grants: Another option is to explore specialty grants targeting minorities. Some of these include business grants for women, women of color, and military veterans.

    Typical Central Heating Installation Costs

The total costs for installing a new central heating system will usually depend on the size of your home.

A large, four bedroom house will require more radiators and pipework for example than a small two bed flat but generally, we estimate that the full central heating installation costs will come to around £3,000 to £5,500 for an average three bedroom home.

Weve broken down some of the individual costs of each size home below.

What Is A Government Grant And How Do Government Grants Work

A government grant is tax-funded money allocated to projects that serve a public purpose. Legislation determines each grant’s funding amount, the types of projects it will fund, and the terms of each grant.

So, how do government grants work? Federal grants go through three main phases: pre-award, award, and post-award.

During the pre-award phase, the government announces the grant funding opportunity in a grant package. The package is called an RFP or RFA .

This phase is when you apply for the federal grant. Review the guidelines outlined in the RFP, complete, and submit your application. The funding agency will evaluate your application and decide who will get the government grant.

The government will notify you whether they select you to receive funding and carry out the proposed program in the award phase.

The post-award phase is when your nonprofit implements the proposed program. You will also need to report on the progress, achievements, and spending of funds, and finally, close out the program.

The pre-award phase generally gives a 30-90 day period to apply for the government grant. The evaluation period varies depending on the agency and scope of the project. The post-award stage may take place over several years depending on the grant terms.

You can find more details of each phase here.

    Subsidized Housing Vouchers Public Housing

The government issues housing choice vouchers to families in need of low-cost rented homes. Typically, Public Housing Agencies that moderate these vouchers pay the subsidized rent directly to the landlord. The tenant, who is entitled to the voucher, just pays the difference, if any.

Houses that are allotted under this program vary in categories, starting from townhouses to apartments, and families. They can choose the home they need, as long as the landlord agrees to rent it to them under the government program guidelines.

Some families may also be eligible to purchase a house at a subsidized rate. To know whether you qualify for subsidized housing, find your local Public Housing Agency from the following link.
