Rainbow Tavern, a longtime post-rafting stop for many in the tiny town of Maupin, is now officially part of the Mt. Hood Brewing family.

Today, the Government Camp-based business that it had purchased the iconic dive on Deschutes Avenuethe communitys main drag.

WW is still waiting to hear whether any significant changes will be made to the space, but at this point it appears as though the name will remain intact. Mt. Hood Brewings website lists the business as Rainbow Tavern in Maupin alongside its 21-year-old flagship on the mountain and the Portland Tilikum Station location.

Rainbow Tavern is about 50 minutes from Government Camp, which is where the companys production facility is located, so beer wont have to travel far. And the expansion continues Mt. The Tilikum Station, for instance, launched in 2018 next to the Oregon Rail Heritage Center and is similarly themed with a dining room situated in an old train car.

Rainbow Tavern has its own aestheticthe walls are strewn with an entire seasons worth of Antique Roadshow finds had the pickers stuck to the homes of hunters and anglers. Hanging above a cherry red banquette, youll find maps, oars, black-and-white photos and nearly two dozen antlers.

About The Mt Hood Brewing Co

Mt. Hood Brewing Co. The microbrewery with an altitude

The Mt. Hood Brewing Co. opened in January 1991 in the alpine village of Government Camp, Oregon, serving locally-produced beers and hearty pub fare in a family-friendly atmosphere. In October 1992, the newly constructed ten barrel brewery rolled out its first barrel under the watchful eye of Brewmaster Jon B. Graber. The Mt. Hood Brewing Co. is named for a brewery that originally operated in Portland, Oregon from 1905 to 1913 during the pre-prohibition heyday of American brewers.

Our distinctive ales are produced by the union of pure glacial water, Pacific Northwest barley and hops, and the inspiration of the Mt. Hood Brewing Co.s brewers. These delightful beers can be enjoyed at the Mt. Hood Brewing Co. brewpub in Government Camp and throughout Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Oregonians can also find these ales on draft at our satellite restaurants Mt. Hood Brewing Co. Tilikum Station in Portland and Mt. Hood Brewing Co. Rainbow Tavern in Maupin.

The Mt. Hood Brewing Co. was founded upon the notion that beer is best produced in small, handcrafted batches utilizing the finest ingredients. The brewerys commitment to this standard demands that each keg arrives at its destination while in its prime fresh and wholesome. Thus, none of the beer leaves the State of Oregon.

We ate lunch here and had no complaints. They have inside seating plus the bar but we sat outside on the large, sunny patio. Typical menu of pub items like burgers, pizza and sandwiches. Everyone liked their food and the pizzas were really good with…tasty, crispy crust made with spent brewing grain. The beers were brewed in house and all nicely done. Average prices for the touristy area. Very friendly service. Good choice for lunch or dinner.More

My brother went with 3 people and said the food was very good but service was slow. I went 5 days later and had the same experience. It seemed like my party of 8 arrived between surges and things were not too busy. Still, it…took a long time to get servers and then for the food to come out. They were out of some of their main dishes like fish and chips, sadly. They were also out of some of their beer even though they make their own, I believe. Still, my burger was good. My fries were crispy and addictive. The Smores dessert was extra tasty.More

The food and beer maybe awesome but we dont know. We waited for 10 minutes, the 3 servers were slammed and though it said to wait to be seated no one acknowledged us and we saw multiple tables with only water on them. We were…afraid to wait longer and then even longer for food so we left.More
