Increasing Employment Without Lifting Income Tends Not To Improve Child Outcomes
Some have suggested that increases in parental employment not income are the real reason children seem to fare better in economic security programs. The evidence suggests otherwise.
Educational gains have been found both from income-support programs that raise parental employment and those that do not. One cross-program comparison of 16 local welfare-to-work and anti-poverty policies in the early 1990s noted:
All of these policies increased parental employment, while only some increased family income. These analyses indicated improved academic achievement for preschool and elementary school children by programs that boosted both income and parental employment, but not by programs that only increased employment. These experimental findings suggest that income plays a causal role in boosting younger childrens achievement.
Moreover, as the same researchers noted, earlier income-boosting programs that did not raise employment also lifted childrens educational outcomes. Taken together, this suggests that income gains tend to help children succeed in school, while lifting parental employment is neither necessary nor sufficient to do so.

Who Qualifies For Low
Recipients of these kind of government benefits must prove their income is below a set amount, which is some percentage of the federal poverty level. Most programs also require you to be a United States citizen or an eligible non-citizen. And many programs have state requirements based on family size and details about combined family income.
Through executive order, the Trump administration has called for the introduction of work requirements to receive some of these welfare benefits. President Trump doubled down on this concept, tying them into the 2020 fiscal budget he introduced. For now, the government agencies and departments that administer these programs are developing ways to introduce work requirements into many of these programs.
And dont forget that welfare programs are not entitlement programs by definition. Entitlement programs, like Social Security and unemployment insurance, determine eligibility based on prior contributions from payroll taxes. Welfare programs, however, are based solely on a familys income level, and thus level of need.
Now lets look at each of these government programs in more detail:

Safety Net Supports Working Families And Promotes Work
Over the past three decades, policymakers changed the safety net substantially so that it now does much more to promote work and support low-income working families whose earnings arent high enough to make ends meet and much less to support low-income families that lack earnings.
Thirty years ago, the main assistance programs for families with children were the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program, Medicaid, food stamps, and a very small EITC. AFDC provided assistance largely to single mothers during periods of joblessness if a mother earned too much to qualify, she would lose not only income assistance but also Medicaid. Medicaid generally covered only parents and their children as well as elderly and disabled people who received cash welfare benefits the working poor did not qualify. Far fewer households with children that received food stamps were working. The EITC did little more than offset some of the payroll taxes that working poor families owed. Child care assistance mainly supported those families receiving AFDC who were in education or training programs it did little to assist the working poor.
The situation is very different today.

Other Ways To Lower Your Internet Costs
If you dont qualify for low-income internet plans but still need assistance, there are other ways you can lower your internet bill. If you dont use the internet daily, you can opt for using free public WiFi hotspots. This solution may be good for users who only use the internet intermittently and may also be able to supplement with a cost-effective mobile data plan.
Using public internet may not be convenient for many users. If you do need a home internet, you can keep your plan costs low by only paying for what you need. If you currently have internet, check your internet speed at home. By a good rule of thumb, 5-40 Mbps is enough for two users who enjoy browsing, gaming, streaming and downloading. If your internet is faster than that, you may be paying too much for speeds you dont need.
To keep costs low, speak with your internet provider to make sure youre only paying for what you need. Consider different plan options like bundles, where you can keep monthly costs low by using the same provider for phone, internet and cable.

The Next Generation And What Is To Come
A common misconception of housing programs is that it enforces a cycle of inefficiency and dependency for the recipients. But, that is not factual. The truth is students who take part in housing programs are less likely to drop out. The housing program gives them a stable place of residence, which does not disrupt their school attendance or forces them to change schools. Housing insecurity leads to an increase to lower academic achievements and a strain on childrens mental health.
To keep it simple and a little bit emotional for you, your children feel safer and hopeful. They can be a kid, again, without worrying about grown up stuff. They can focus on themselves and stay hopeful that they can actually make it in the world.
