Answer a few questions to get information before you apply, or to get help if you encounter issues during or after you apply for an eTA.

If Youre Transiting Through Canada

You may be permitted to transit through Canada to reach another country. If you are transiting through Canada, you must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation , unless you are otherwise exempted . You must also:

• plan your travel so you arrive and depart from the same Canadian airport within 24 hours. Domestic transfers are not permitted
• make sure your baggage is checked through to a destination outside of Canada
• connections must occur on the same day at all Canadian airports except Toronto Pearson
• Overnight connections are not possible at:
• Montréal-Trudeau
• Calgary International
• Vancouver International

During your connection you must remain in the secure transit area to complete your connection. This means that you will not be allowed to collect your baggage, or check-in for your next flight anywhere but at your scheduled gate of departure.

You are exempt from testing and quarantine requirements, as long as you remain in the se-cure transit area to complete your connection within 24 hours. If you need to leave the airport or the secure transit area due to a flight cancellation or delay, you become subject to mandatory quarantine until your flight departs.

You must follow all flight requirements and comply with any guidelines provided by the Airport Authority, such as wearing a face mask. If you cannot wear a face mask for medical reasons, you must be in possession of a medical certificate.

The following documents may be used to establish your identity:

• CANPASS card , held by a Canadian citizen
• Commercial driver registration program card, held by a Canadian citizen

Who Needs An Eta To Travel To Canada

You need an eTA if youre a:

• Visa-exempt foreign national and youre flying to or transiting through a Canadian airport

You may be eligible to apply for an eTA if youre a:

• Citizen from select visa-required countries and youre travelling to Canada .

Canadian citizens

Danish Nationals Traveling To Canada

The Government of Canada has recently introduced a new entry requirement, known as an Electronic Travel Authorization , that applies to visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to or transiting via Canada by air. An eTA is not needed for arriving in Canada by land or sea.

Effective September 29, 2016, Danish citizens must obtain an eTA before they can board a flight to Canada. If Youre Fully Vaccinated

Fully vaccinated foreign nationals may enter Canada for discretionary reasons, such as tourism. Use the online tool Find out if you can travel to Canada to find out if you are eligible to enter Canada.

As well as being fully vaccinated, you must

• be admissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and,
• have no COVID symptoms
• submit your mandatory information via ArriveCAN , including proof of vaccination in English or French and

• wear a face mask during the flight and in airport terminals. If you cannot wear a face mask for medical reasons, you must be in possession of a medical certificate.

If selected for arrivals testing, you are not required to quarantine while awaiting the result. Until mid-July, Canada is suspending mandatory random arrival testing for fully vaccinated travellers at all airports, but not land borders.

If your arrival test is positive, you must isolate for 10 days.

If you do not have your vaccine certificate, you may be denied boarding or entry.

Check Your Passport Number

Check that the passport number included in the eTA approval email matches exactly the number in your passport. If it’s not the same, you need to apply again with the correct passport number.

If you entered the wrong passport number, you may not be able to board your flight to Canada.

• You may only find out at the airport if you made a mistake.
• Youll have to reapply for an eTA.
• Depending on your situation, it may not be possible to get an eTA at the last minute.
