Legislation from the 2017 Minnesota legislative session repealed the Made in Minnesota Solar Incentive Program, meaning no further applications will be accepted for the program.
Commerce continues to administer the annual performance-based incentive payments that are due to recipients who have approved projects and have installed Made in Minnesota solar modules from the programs four years. The new legislation requires that all Made in Minnesota projects that have approved applications must begin generating electricity no later than Oct. 31, 2018 to be eligible for incentive payments. Grant Will Help Seniors Stay In Their Homes Longer
The Province is following through on its commitment to help seniors stay in their homes longer by investing up to $32 million each year in the Seniors Care Grant.
The grant provides up to $500 in funding for eligible Nova Scotians aged 65 years and older who need help around their homes. Covered expenses include snow removal, small household repairs, lawn care, grocery delivery and other needs.
We know many Nova Scotia seniors face challenges staying in their homes, and often they just need a helping hand with small jobs here and there, said Barbara Adams, Minister of Seniors and Long-Term Care. This investment makes it easier for older Nova Scotians to maintain and afford their homes with the dignity they deserve.
To qualify, older Nova Scotians must live independently in a home they own or rent and have an annual household income of $37,500 or less.
Applications open on December 1 and can be submitted online, by mail or by fax. The application will be available online at . Print applications will be available at Access Nova Scotia Centres and MLA offices, or by calling 1-800-670-4357 to request that one be mailed. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2022, and funds can be used through November 30, 2022.
The government also offers support programs to help seniors with the costs of heating and property tax.

In Canada, where air temperatures can go below â30°C, ground-source systems are able to operate more efficiently because they take advantage of warmer and more stable ground temperatures. Typical water temperatures entering the ground-source heat pump are generally above 0°C, yielding a COP of around 3 for most systems during the coldest winter months.
Energy Savings
Ground-source systems will reduce your heating and cooling costs substantially. Heating energy cost savings compared with electric furnaces are around 65%.
On average, a well designed ground-source system will yield savings that are about 10-20% more than would be provided by a best in class, cold climate air-source heat pump sized to cover most of the building heating load. This is due to the fact that underground temperatures are higher in winter than air temperatures. As a result, a ground-source heat pump can provide more heat over the course of the winter than an air-source heat pump.
Actual energy savings will vary depending on the local climate, the efficiency of the existing heating system, the costs of fuel and electricity, the size of the heat pump installed, borefield configuration and the seasonal energy balance, and the heat pump efficiency performance at CSA rating conditions.
