Government Surplus Computers For Sale

Don't Miss

How Do Gov Auctions Work

For Citizens Seeking Surplus Property

Basically, if you figured out how to shop on eBay, youll be absolutely fine. These online government auctions work in much the same way.

Both government auctions have user-friendly websites. You can browse via categories if you are just browsing for interesting items for sale. Both websites also feature a search facility if youre looking for something a bit more specific.

Most items for sale have multiple images and a description field containing details about age, condition and specification etc.

Once youve settled on a purchase, just make a bid and monitor the bidding activity to make sure that you are not outbid. So what are you waiting for, get browsing and see if you can pick up a second-hand, quality bargain!

NOTE: You will have to register/open an account on each of the gov auction websites before you can bid and shop. Again, just like eBay!

Exhibit 21a Materiel Management Officer Can Follow A Logic Model To Guide Decisions About How To Dispose Of Government Surplus Goods And Equipment

Exhibit 2.1âtext version

This flow chart shows the steps of a logic model that a materiel management officer can follow to guide decisions about how to dispose of government surplus goods and equipment.

Once an item is declared surplus, an officer can ask the following question: Could the item be considered as having heritage value?

If the answer is yes , then the officer should see the Treasury Board Guide to the Management of Movable Heritage Assets.

If the answer is no , then the officer can ask the following question: Is the item a computer or related material?

If the answer is yes , then the officer can ask the following question: Does the Computers for Schools program accept the item? If the answer is yes , then the item goes to the Computers for Schools program.

If the item is not a computer or related material, then the officer can ask the following question: Is it a book?

If the answer is yes , then the item goes to Library and Archives Canada, and the officer should see Treasury Board Directive on Disposal of Surplus Materiel requirement 4.2.

If the item is not a book or if the Computers for Schools program does not accept the item, then the officer can ask the following question: Are you replacing the item?

If the answer is yes , then the officer can ask the following question: Will you trade it in? If the answer is yes , then the officer should see Treasury Board Directive on Disposal of Surplus Materiel requirement 4.5.

Government Auction #1 Govplanet Military Ebay

Uk Used Laptops For Everyone

The first website is GovPlanet. GovPlanet is an official online government auction partner selling ex-government and military equipment and vehicles. Besides ex-military jeeps and humvees etc, they also sell a whole range of technical gear generators, field gear, clothing and other military equipment. There are too many items to list, so you are best to just take a look and see whats available.

If a government dept/body or state has bought it but doesnt need it anymore, it is sold off via official gov auctions like GovPlanet and Gov Deals . There are storage lockers and compounds across the US filled with vehicles and items that are in perfectly good condition but are no longer used due to policy and procedure changes.

As GovPlanet is an auction website, the range of items for sale varies from day to day, week to week. For example, sometimes there will be a lot of military jeeps for sale, other times, not so much. Just like eBay, you really need to check regularly if you are on the lookout for something specific.

Scroll down the page to see some photos of a few things I found for sale on GovPlanet at the time of writing.

Did I also mention that you can buy seized police goods on one of these government auctions below? Anything seized during criminal investigations that cannot be returned to a rightful owner is auctioned off to the highest bidder. Often items are sold for incredibly low prices

Interested? If so, read on and I will tell you how you can find and buy government surplus and police seized goods at low, low prices online.

As mentioned above, many smaller items such as laptops, tablets, cellphones, clothing and field gear are sold off in lots/bundles. They are often sold in bulk on a pallet. How To Purchase Surplus Property

Surplus Property is property the government does not need. Personal property includes assets ranging from office equipment and furniture to scientific equipment, heavy machinery, airplanes, vessels, and vehicles. If this property cannot be donated to a state or public agency, or nonprofit organization, the general public can buy it.

You can purchase surplus government property through GSA AuctionsSM. The site offers the general public the chance to bid electronically on federal assets. All registered participants can bid on a single item or multiple items within specified time frames.

When no federal agencies need real property, it is determined to be surplus and may be made available for other uses through public benefit conveyances, including homeless use, negotiated sales, or public sales, based on GSA’s determination of the propertys highest and best use.

You can review surplus personal property offline by using the “Other Sales” tab at the top of the page. Or you can visit the Personal Property Sales by Geographical Location, which offers scheduled sales by geographic location and sales method. For sales methods, non-Internet includes live auction, fixed price, drop-by, negotiated sealed bid, and spot bid.

Tips For Participating In Government Auctions

Preview of largest government surplus auction: TNT Auction of Nevada
    • The general rule for auctions is that the highest bidder wins, and cancellation is not possible. Check with the auction site ahead of time to find out if you can cancel a bid.

    • Each auction website operates differently. In some cases, the government agency itself runs the auctions. In other cases, the agency operates the shopping site, but a third-party company handles the auction itself.

    • Find out what forms of payment auctions accept. There is no uniform payment policy across all the different auctions. Some auctions accept credit card payments or personal checks. Others, such as the Internal Revenue Service , don’t accept either of these. Most auctions accept cashier’s checks.

    • For real estate auctions, you may need to work with a broker or real estate agent to bid or make the purchase. Also, for real estate auctions, find out if financing is permitted. Many times it is not and the full purchase price is due when you win the bid.

    Government Auction #2 Gov Deals

The second online gov auction is Gov Deals. Ever wondered where all the items seized from criminal investigations go? Well, everything that has value and is reusable, recyclable or sellable is auctioned off to the public on little known government auction websites like Gov Deals.

Gov Deals, like GovPlant, is also an official online government auction partner

Also, like GovPlanet, you can purchase much of the same ex-police/military equipment and government surplus from other government departments etc from Gov Deals, but the big differences is that you can also purchase seized police goods from Gov Deals!

Pretty much anything seized and left-over from criminal investigations can be auctioned off. You can even find high-value jewellery, watches, designer clothing, sporting goods, SUVs and boats at bargain prices.

Buying seized goods from criminal investigations can make many buyers feel uncertain of the sellers sources. But Gov Deals is a fully licensed gov auction that provides a transparent and efficient service that you can trust.

2.32 Furthermore, we found that during the period covered by the audit, approximately one quarter of sales lots sold for less than $100 each. It is unclear in these instances whether selling was the best disposal method. In our view, federal organizations must consider transferring, donating, or recycling these low-value assets in line with the Directive on Disposal of Surplus Materiel.

2.33 In our survey of all federal organizations, we found that only 30% of respondents frequently or occasionally used GCTransfer to dispose of assets. For the period from 1 April 2015 to 30 June 2017, we found that fewer than 7% of requests posted to GCTransfer were successfully transferred. We found similar results in the four federal organizations we selected.

2.35Canada Revenue Agency case study. The Canada Revenue Agency is not governed by the Surplus Crown Assets Act and developed its own asset disposal policies. In 2001, the Agency implemented an internal website for transferring assets to extend the lives of assets and encourage all employees to reuse assets internally.

2.39 In our survey of all federal organizations, we found that 84% rarely or never donated assets. Officials in the selected federal organizations also told us that internal processes to donate assets were cumbersome.

Three of the four federal organizations did not keep detailed records to support disposal decisions

Firstly Why Buy Items From Official Gov Auctions

There are lots of positives to buying government surplus via an official government auction, rather than via eBay or Craigslist etc.

Firstly, you can also put your mind at rest as you can be confident that youre receiving your goods from a reputable, official source. This is especially relevant when purchasing seized police goods leftover from criminal investigations.

You can feel confident that what youre buying is the best quality. Buying used isnt necessarily a bad thing when you are buying government vehicles and goods. You will know that the product has been tried and tested and can also stand up to the test of time. This is particularly important if youre buying vehicles. Ex-police cars, ex-military vehicles, vans or school buses are made by the highest quality engineers to ensure complete safety in such important job roles, and they will have been regularly maintained.

The prices at these gov auctions can be surprisingly low. Youll pay a little more depending on the popularity of the item as it is an auctioning site but usually, the out of use items go for much lower costs than if you bought them new, just because theyre no longer standard issue. But this doesnt mean that theyre not still useful and in perfectly good condition.
