Sec Again Ranks Among Best Places To Work
The staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission has received further accolades for their steady teamwork approach to protecting Americas investors as the agency ranked as one of the top five mid-size federal workplaces in government.
According to the 2020 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings, which are compiled by the nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service, the SEC ranked fourth out of 25 mid-size agencies, just 1.5 points out of the third spot and less than four points away from the top of the rankings.
The SECs engagement score was 85.7, well above the government-wide average of 69.0.
This honor is a testament to the SEC staffs teamwork, dedication, and service to American investors, said SEC Chair Gary Gensler. They are the reason the SEC is one of the best places to work. I congratulate them on this achievement and thank them for their work on behalf of the public.
The SEC finished first among all mid-size agencies in the category of Work-Life Balance that measures the extent to which employees consider their workloads reasonable and feasible, and managers support a balance between work and life.

Best Places To Work In The Federal Government
The Partnership for Public Service regularly ranks agencies to determine which is the absolute best place to work in the federal government. However, these ranking dont tell the whole story. 85% of federal workers are based beyond the beltway. According to a new report, some satellite offices arent feeling as much love as they should. Tim McManus, chief operating officer at the Partnership for Public Service, says that the data shows all employees need to have greater engagement with their higher-ups.
Ultimately all employees, if they are at headquarters or afar, their engagement will have a direct correlation with their agency performance down the stream will also have an impact on the services that they are providing to the American people. It is in all of our best interest that everyone is engaged, regardless of where they are. Better engagement, better delivery of services to the American people, McManus said. Some of the challenges that we actually found in this is that folks from afar dont feel like they are necessarily involved in decision-making. Because of distance, because of communication, they dont feel connection to the leaders, especially the more senior leaders within the organization. Theres also another issue thats at stake as well. They dont feel as they are recognized as much as their colleagues in D.C. for the great work that they are doing. Out of sight out of mind mentality may be a little bit in play here.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

Commerce Ranks In Top Five Places To Work In Federal Government For Ninth Consecutive Year
Recently, the Partnership for Public Service released the 2020 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings. And, for the ninth consecutive year, the Department of Commerce remained in the Top 5 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government ranking fifth among 17 large agencies.The results were based on the annual 2020 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey sent to 37,247 eligible Commerce employees from September 21November 2, 2020, to which 57 percent of Commerce employees responded.
While the Department had major strengths and made significant improvements since 2019, we remain committed to continue to improve and will review this years results and future feedback to identify opportunities on how we can make the Department the best place to work for you, said Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.
The latest ranking represents a 5.3 percentage point increase in the Partnership for Public Services overall Engagement score , making it clear that majority of the Departments employees continue to recommend it as a good place to work and are satisfied with their job and organization. Commerce also ranked second in the new COVID overall category , which measures the extent to which employees feel their organization supported their mental and physical well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic, provided the resources they needed to do their work, had leaders who communicated effectively and prioritized their welfare, and successfully delivered on their mission.
Best Places To Work In The Federal Government Rankings Released
The Partnership for Public Service and the Boston Consulting Group released their annual Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings, which rank the best and worst places to work in federal government based on responses to the Office of Personnel Management’s annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey . This year, the rankings included employee reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic including views on their agencys ability to communicate effectively, allocate resources, and carry out their mission through the pandemic.
James-Christian Blockwood, the Partnerships executive vice president, explained during an event outlining the survey results to agencies and stakeholders, We want to learn about your formula for success. We want to share with others the specific data, examples and stories that demonstrate how a good employee experience drives your agencys mission.
Each agency was given an engagement score based on the answers to three questions on individual job satisfaction, satisfaction with their organization more broadly, and whether the employee would recommend their agency as a good place to work. The Partnership recently changed its methodology from previous years to calculate the 2020 scores.
Overall, the Partnership found that public sector employee engagement lags behind the private sector, whose overall engagement score is eight points higher. The Partnership obtained comparable data on the private sector from Mercer.

Best Government Agencies To Work For
Dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic is a government-wide effort with health-related agencies, in particular, kicked into full gear. Pandemic Response Drives The Best Federal Workplaces
U.S. government agencies that topped the Partnership for Public Services 2020 Best Places to Work rankings had strong telework and communication plans that allowed them to effectively navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rankings, released June 29, show NASA once again at the top, leading the large agency category for the ninth year in a row. The Government Accountability Office led for midsized agencies, the Congressional Budget Office led for small agencies, and the Office of Inspector General for the Tennessee Valley Authority led the agency subcomponents category.
The TVA OIG scored a massive 99.4 for satisfaction with work-life balance and a 97.1 for satisfaction with supervisors.
TVA OIGs strong telework program in place prior to the pandemic and our ongoing emphasis on effective communications and professional relationships put us in a position to maintain continuity despite the challenges that arose last year, TVA OIG auditor Lucas Cotter said at the June 29 Best Places to Work awards event.
In addition, our office made a conscious effort to remain connected while working virtually. Managers shifted processes to enable strong communication and engagement with individual groups, and as an entire office we challenged ourselves to hold all-hands meetings that brought all facets of the organization together, said Cotter.
NASA also demonstrated early flexibility for employees leading up to the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Credit Union Administration

This agency regulates federal credit unions and provides insurance for deposits at credit unions. Its workforce mainly consists of legal professionals, credit union examiners, and information technology specialists. Best Places To Work Rankings Reveal Increase In Employee Satisfaction And Commitment For First Time In Four Years
WASHINGTON The nonprofit, nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service today released the 2015 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government® rankings that revealed a slight increase in federal employee satisfaction and commitment with their jobs and workplaces. The 2015 score of 58.1 out of 100 represents a 1.2-point increase from 2014 and follows four years of declining employee satisfaction.
Produced by the Partnership and Deloitte, the Best Places to Work rankings provide critical information to help agencies, the Obama administration and Congress assess workplace health and performance. In addition to overall satisfaction and commitment, the rankings measure employee attitudes on 10 workplace categories, including effective leadership, innovation, support for diversity, work-life balance and pay.
