Contact Hours And Expected Workload

Set Point: Policy and Bad Science | Regent University

Contact hours in Year 1 and Year 2 are 15 hours per week. In Year 3, youll receive 12-13 hours per week as your final capstone project is a supervised module, rather than a classroom-based one.

Youll receive a minimum of 10 hours of one-on-one time with your supervisor, to agree the scope and direction of your capstone project. We also offer research skills lectures and drop-in sessions.

Regent University Launches Ma In International Development Program

Regent University is pleased to announce a new online degree program beginning in Fall 2021: the Master of Arts in International Development. Regent is the only Christian university offering this program in a school of government.

By offering a new M.A. in International Development degree program, Regent is standing in the gap to fulfill a critical need that employers and international partners are seeking, said Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, executive vice president for Academic Affairs at Regent University. This program will provide leading-edge applied policy training to prepare students for strategic and positive impact in political, social, and economic environments around the world.

Regents M.A. in International Development provides advanced skills in program evaluation, policy oversight and analysis, and economic growth and trade. The program will help prepare students to improve economic, social, and political conditions globally. Students will also be equipped to work with governmental, nonprofit, and humanitarian organizations to lead disaster response and anti-poverty efforts around the world. This program is delivered fully online with some courses also available on campus in Virginia Beach, VA.

Popularity Of Political Science At Regent

During the 2019-2020 academic year, Regent University handed out 8 bachelor’s degrees in political science and government. Due to this, the school was ranked #309 in popularity out of all colleges and universities that offer this degree. This is an increase of 60% over the previous year when 5 degrees were handed out.

In 2020, 39 students received their masterâs degree in political science from Regent. This makes it the #8 most popular school for political science masterâs degree candidates in the country.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA Regent University and its Board of Trustees have named U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann as the new dean of the Robertson School of Government, effective January 1, 2021. Dr. M. G. “Pat” Robertson, Founder, Chancellor & CEO of Regent University, made the announcement Tuesday. “Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is a distinguished leader of national and global reputation,” said Robertson. “She has displayed exemplary vision, character, integrity, and skill throughout her career in government. We are delighted to welcome to Regent this remarkable public servant whose vast experience and principled leadership will provide an extraordinary role model for our students and graduates to emulate.” “On behalf of the Regent University Board of Trustees, I welcome Michele Bachmann to Regent University’s Robertson School of Government,” said Phil Walker, Chairman of the Board at Regent University. “Her service to our great nation is an inspiration to us all. I know that the Regent community will greatly benefit from her outstanding leadership.” Michele Bachmann was born in Waterloo, Iowa. She received a B.A. in Political Science and English from Winona State University in 1978. She married Marcus Bachmann, a clinical therapist who holds a master’s degree from Regent University.

The Founders Inn And Spa

Completed in 1990, The Founders Inn and Spa luxury hotel was originally part of the Christian Broadcasting Network before Regent University assumed ownership, and then in 2018 joined the Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio. The Hilton plans to take the following two years to renovate and redecorate The Founders Inn and Spa. The hotel features neo-Georgian architecture in keeping with the rest of the university campus. The name of the hotel refers to the Founding Fathers and the drafting of the United States Constitution in 1787.

Academic And Communal Facilities

The University Library Building houses the university’s libraries while Robertson Hall is home to the Schools of Government, Law, and Undergraduate Studies. The Communication & Performing Arts Center, home for the School of Communication & the Arts, is a 135,000-square-foot building with two theatres, a production studio, sound stage, screening theatres, and a backlot. The Student Center is a 31,000-square-foot facility includes a bookstore, student organization offices, dining hall, computer lab, and student lounge. The Administration Building, along with administrative offices, includes the School of Education. The Classroom Building accommodates the schools of Business & Leadership and Psychology & Counseling. The adjoined Chapel and Divinity Building are the most recent additions to the campus, completed in 2013.

To accomplish this, we allow students to transfer up to 90 credit hours to finish strong here at Regent University.

What Other Costs Should I Budget For

Fees cover the cost of tuition. You will need to budget additional funds for accommodation and living expenses, travel, and any additional trips, visits, activities or courses that you choose to participate in outside of the tuition offered as part of the programme.

The library hold a limited number of copies of core text books and where possible in e-format. You will be encouraged to purchase your own text books and will need to budget approximately £80-£100 per year, depending on your programme of study.

Regent Universitys Robertson School of Government will host a virtual conference on election integrity on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, from 12 PM to 6 PM ET.

Election integrity is the foundation for every citizens right to vote in a free and fair election, said Michele Bachmann, dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University. The electoral process is a significant, fundamental component of political freedom. Through this important conference, our goal is to educate individuals about election integrity and to raise awareness surrounding the electoral process.

Throughout the event, panelists and keynote speakers will highlight the importance of freedom of speech, election integrity in a representative democracy, election irregularities and correlated impacts on future elections, and voter ID, among other topics.

Aba National Competition Wins And Moot Court Program

Moot court teams from the Regent University School of Law have placed as quarter-finalists or better in over 100 moot court competitions, winning more than 40 national and regional events. In 2006 and 2007, Regent Law won several national ABA moot court and negotiation competitions succeeding against teams from Harvard and Yale. Regent’s moot court program was ranked sixth in the nation in 2015.
